My calendar, however, shows May 9 as being a Saturday, while June 9 is a Tuesday. Could you clarify this opening date for ordering for us? Thanks.
Correction: Tuesday May 12th.

Re: 2015 Durango - Features and Changes

With a probable lull in this thread as a number of us await the May 14th order date opening for the Beats system, I thought it might be useful if some of us shared our "good" dealer experiences and recommendations, which might also be helpful to other potential and future buyers.

As a senior citizen, I have purchased my share of new and used vehicles over the years. I will no longer deal with any dealership that does not offer "hassle-free" or "no-haggle" pricing. It's refreshing to walk into a no-pressure environment without having to deal with the sales "vultures" all lined up and waiting their turn to sink their talons into anyone who drives onto the lot, including suffering their inevitable "What do I have to do to get you into this car today" routine, or their attempts to humiliate you when you try to negotiate the price down from MSRP.

If you have difficulty finding such a dealership in your area--or if you live anywhere in the West, in general--I can definitely recommend Dave Smith Motors in Kellogg, Idaho.

Dave Smith Motors | Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram Dealer

Located about 70 miles east of Spokane, WA on I-90, if you fly into Spokane to purchase from them, they will pick you up at the airport and shuttle you back and forth. They advertise themselves as "The world's largest Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Ram dealer." They also sell all of the GM line. They are the main industry in town, with probably close to a thousand vehicles parked in lots from one end of town to the other. Quite the sight! They have customers that regularly come to them from all over the country.

New vehicle orders are usually offered at "inventory" pricing, while vehicles in current dealer stock very often will have additional discounts, incentives, rebates, etc. (for those of you who may be willing to wait till mid-summer or fall for the Beats system to show up in regular dealer-allotment shipments.) When I visited them earlier in the year to look at an in-stock Redline Pearl R/T, which did not have several equipment packages that I wanted, they also offered me what I thought was a very reasonable trade-in price on my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

It's a pleasure to deal with pleasant people in a no-pressure environment. The only pushy guy in the whole place is the closer trying to sell you an extended warrantee at the end, which I am not a fan of. As others have mentioned, you're better of putting the $2K or so into a bank account as a reserve for repairs beyond the three-year basic warrantee--repairs that you may never need. You can still purchase the extension at any time during the three years if you are having problems with your vehicle and you plan to keep it for a long time, but if you are having any serious issues, you may not want to keep it any longer anyway!

Check out the Dave Smith website. And please share your own positive purchasing experience with the rest of us!

Here's to ordering a new R/T on May 14!

My father recommended the same dealership to me. He's bought two vehicles from them despite being 600+ miles away, which seems crazy as they're in Idaho and we're in northern Utah. When he recommended an Idaho dealer I thought "Hey, that will be an easy drive." Yeah, not so much. That said, I will definitely give them an opportunity to bid for my business. It is crazy to see how many vehicles they have in their inventory.

Re: 2015 Durango - Features and Changes

At least it's all freeway! I drive back and forth to Vegas from Coeur d' Alene, Idaho at least once a year. Always enjoy the scenery and lack of traffic on I-15 (with the exception of the greater Salt Lake metro area from Ogden to Provo!)

Some of the mountain stretches can be a bit dicey during the winter months, but this should be a nice time of year for the drive. Happy travels!

If you contact Dave Smith, ask for Kyle, ext.#1476. Nice guy!

As far as recommended dealers go, you might want to check out the 5% below invoice in Texas thread. It's an on going group buy with a prearranged deal. I'm ordering my RT with them, and they have been a pleasure to deal with - a refreshing change.

SaltH20, could you clarify the location of that thread for us. I can't seem to locate it. Thanks.

Re: 2015 Durango - Features and Changes

Finally found it. Click on "search" above and type in Texas Group Buy. A number of group buy threads show up in other parts of the country. Not certain whether Durango is included in the 5.5% below invoice pricing offered in Texas on Jeep models, but since most dealers sell most Chrysler products, it might be worth checking out for those of you who live a little closer to Texas. Keep us posted on what you discover if you do check it out!

FWIW, Towbin (Prestige Chrysler Jeep Dodge) in Las Vegas claims to sell below MSRP, but how close to inventory pricing or below that may be is unknown. Might be worth checking for those of you living in the nearby SW.

Re: 2015 Durango - Features and Changes

Since it was difficult to find the thread "5.5% below invoice in texas!!", I tried searching for it myself. Luckily, I have it saved as a favorite on my computer. Anyway, I tried all different entries in the search. Even though the thread name pops up for me to select before I finish typing, after I select it, it says not found. What? It's still there when I use my favorite icon. I did figure out what works. Click on the Search button, then go to "Search by User Name" on the right side. By "user name:" type f1rst1. Yes, two #1s. The thread does come up. The group buy is for all Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles, including the Durango. It's 5.5% below plus any incentives. The deal is much better than anything we could get in Florida, by over $1700 (not including incentives). So road trip it is. Hope this makes it easier to find.

Or you could just post a direct link to the thread in question.

Anyone want to take bets if tomorrow we can order a "real" 2015 Durango R/T? Are there still no incentives for Memorial Day coming up?

The smart man would avoid betting on actual Beats availability in the Durango.

Re: 2015 Durango - Features and Changes

I got a response from FCA that actually makes it sound like it's coming, *but* they also indicated that factory ordering is closed right now for Durango and won't be opening until the 14th. Not sure why the 2 day lag, but if Beats makes it in to the system, I don't care much.

Heck, at this point, not sure why I even care so much about the audio system update, but I've held out this long, so...
