No restrictions that I see. According to the latest order guide, as well as the ordering system, the Premium Group comes with:

20X8.0 FULLY POLISHED ALUM WHLS (WRF)

No other wheels options are shown as being available with the Premium Group.

Re: 2016 Durango - Features and Changes

Thanks. It must just be a flaw in a not quite ready for prime time build tool.

Re: 2016 Durango - Features and Changes

Test drove a '16 R/T on an overnight from the dealer. Pretty impressed with it.

Question - contrary to what the dealer salesrep is telling me I think the low beams are HID and high beams are halogen, is that correct? Headlights are a big deal for me this time around - my '15 Explorer Sport has terrible headlights.

And another question for Milous - sorry if this has been asked somewhere else - based on the short '16 model year run - does that mean a '17 will be out late summer? My follow-up question of course would be if you think there any changes to headlights.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Low beams are bi-xenon. High beams are halogen, if i recall corretly (ours is '14 and I don't think its changed). I've never had any problems with the brightness of the headlamps.

You had it overnight. How was it in the dark for you?

Pretty good actually. Low beams were great. Flipping to high beams didn't seem all that different than low which is why I started digging a little. Certainly better than my '15 Explorer. I'm going to compare to the '16 Explorer next week - low beam LED...

Interested to hear what you think of those LED low beams. We drove an Explorer before we bought the Durango. Neither my wife nor I cared for it.

Will report next week. Curious - what model Explorer did you drive and what model Durango? What did you view as advantages/disadvantages between the two?

I thought the Durango felt a lot like my '11 Jeep GC Overland (which I really liked).

Good question. At the time the test drives were all in Durango Crew trims, but we knew we would be ordering a 2014 Limited (this was in late 2013). I think the Explorer was the equivalent trim to the Crew.

My wife had issues with passenger seat comfort and the seat height relative to the view out the windshield.

Neither of us cared for how it drove, and I though the instrument cluster was set to low relative to looking out the windshield. Put differently, I thought it took to much of a look down to see the instruments in normal driving.

I also didn't care for the operation of the turn signal stalk (I didn't like how it moved back to center position after signaling a turn).

Access to the third row was more difficult, and I don't think we cared for the arrangement of the space behind the third row.

Interesting... the turn signal stalk drives me crazy too - always goes back to center too soon. I nick the Durango on the 3rd row - the power seats on the Explorer are nice as is the lay flat floor. I could not get the Durango's to go all the way flat - are they supposed to? Not sure our Labrador Retriever will like that so much...

Re: 2016 Durango - Features and Changes

I'm not sold on the LED headlamps yet. I believe my bi-xenons in the Jeep and my car are superior to the output of the LED lights on newer models.

As for the Durango lights, the RT has bi-xenon HIDs which means that a shutter inside the projector housing moves out of the way to turn it into a high beam. No halogen high beam.

As for the Explorer vs Durango debate (we have had a 2011 and 2013 Explorer..getting a 2016 Durango), my major issue is that the Explorer is based off the Taurus with a bit more ground clearance. Additionally it weighs a lot and the V6 in it isn't up to the task with the 6 speed transmission, also the reason I went with the V8 in the Durango(which does perform better with the 8spd/V-6 combo).
