Awesome news...wife test drove a 2015 R/T yesterday and loved it. She likes the "sparkly" white paint so that tri-coat looks promising.

Any idea how "late", late availability is. Her current lease is up in March so we would need to order around January.

So the Durango is NOT getting the V6 Pentastar Upgrade or the aluminum suspension components that the JGC is getting for 2016?

Looks like we're on our way to ordering a second Durango!

Looking at another Limited AWD in the new Velvet Red Pearl

- Trailer Tow
- 2nd Row Captains
- 2nd Row Console
-Premium Group (I sorta hate how everything is bundled, but I want about 75% of what's in the package, so....for 2016 this appears to be the only way to get a sunroof on a Limited unless you're a fleet buyer).
- Safety/Security/Convenience
- Mopar Running Board Package (because I refuse to install another set of those things myself).

Paging Milous...

Are there any current restrictions on the Limited trim's Premium Group? The Dodge.com build tool is requiring one to choose either the Hyper Black or Gloss Black wheels...

I know the build tool isn't really live yet (I got to it indirectly), but it did make me wonder...

TIA

Test drove a '16 R/T on an overnight from the dealer. Pretty impressed with it.

Question - contrary to what the dealer salesrep is telling me I think the low beams are HID and high beams are halogen, is that correct? Headlights are a big deal for me this time around - my '15 Explorer Sport has terrible headlights.

And another question for Milous - sorry if this has been asked somewhere else - based on the short '16 model year run - does that mean a '17 will be out late summer? My follow-up question of course would be if you think there any changes to headlights.

Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Low beams are bi-xenon. High beams are halogen, if i recall corretly (ours is '14 and I don't think its changed). I've never had any problems with the brightness of the headlamps.

You had it overnight. How was it in the dark for you?

I'm not sold on the LED headlamps yet. I believe my bi-xenons in the Jeep and my car are superior to the output of the LED lights on newer models.

As for the Durango lights, the RT has bi-xenon HIDs which means that a shutter inside the projector housing moves out of the way to turn it into a high beam. No halogen high beam.

As for the Explorer vs Durango debate (we have had a 2011 and 2013 Explorer..getting a 2016 Durango), my major issue is that the Explorer is based off the Taurus with a bit more ground clearance. Additionally it weighs a lot and the V6 in it isn't up to the task with the 6 speed transmission, also the reason I went with the V8 in the Durango(which does perform better with the 8spd/V-6 combo).
