Trying hard to decide between an Explorer sport and an RT for the family.

Couple of questions for some of the details already posted:

Upgraded interior on the RT, any idea what that means.

New blacktop wheels, any insight as to what they will look like.

Finally about the colors, i think i found the Rhino color on another Jeep vehicule but what about the Diamond black crystal, black is black so what might it be like ?

Cant wait to see the order guide and all options. A sneak peek would be great
Color swatches have not been released yet.

R/T interior is hand-wrapped, soft touch, red stitching. Late availability, do not have a production start date yet.

Have not seen new wheels.

I did test a 2016 sport twice and was actually more impressed by the 3.5 EB engine than the hemi. I forgot to activate the sport mode when I tested the rt so maybe it would have felt quicker. The EB can be tuned quite easily and the Durango has very limited aftermarket support.

This truck will be used to carry a family of six so it aint no sports car but since I just sold a 700rwhp Mustang I wanna enjoy the truck as much as possible.

Imo both rt and sports handled quite well, I know sync sucked but the sports now has sync 3 that is obviously better.
The Durango Uconnect is supposed to be better but havent played with it. I have a feeling that ill need to upgrade the stereo in either the Ford or rt to please me but until I can play with both systems ill have to rely on others opinion.

An rt loaded is about 6-7k more than a loaded sport in Canada so that could make a difference.

My wife loves the granite rt with red seats, not the price though
Tough decision, really want to see what the 2017 looks like with the new wheels and interior options.

Pretty sure it will be a RT, wishing for an SRT but need the truck before 2018.

Many people have confirmed order on the 17, not sure how they do it with no order guide available. How can yo order a car and not even have pricing on the new options like roof rails, leather and new blacktop wheels..
Certain'y wouldnt order myself without seeing what ill get..lol

Order guides are available . Any late availability items, like the upgraded interior, would not be in the guides yet.

Canada would be better but US prices would give me a rough idea.

Whew, no major improvements to cause me regrets about my '16, despite being a bit ticked about the short '16 model year.

The roof rack option for the R/T would have been nice. Glad I got on Maximum Steel before it disappeared (love that color!) but if Rhino is the color I think I've seen on Jeeps (a non-metallic gray?), that's a sweet new option.

Wish they'd ditch the ultra-cheesy, ultra-cheap, ultra-creaky chrome trim rings on the center stack and steering wheel. Just an annoyingly-tacky touch on a otherwise well-built vehicle. I'd pay to replace that crap with something better.

And what's up with the constant CarPlay delays? You suck, FCA.

Oh, and re: Explorer Sport vs Durango R/T:

Durango looks better
Durango sounds better
Durango is more fun to drive
Everyone and their grandma has an Explorer

Explorer Sport was at the top of my shopping list until I drove it back to back with the Durango R/T. No contest. Durango by a mile.

Going to the dealer Friday to look at a black rt with red interior.
Will definitely order a 17 cause i want the roof rack and perhaps one of the new colors.
Have you tried the sport mode, is the fun factor improved by it ?

It does suck though that no tuning is available for the 15-17 model years.
Had so mnay options for tuning when i built my Mustang..

Yes, Sport Mode is great, though I usually find the standard mode to be plenty peppy for me (and more MPG friendly, obviously).
