4WD systems

Just wondering what 4WD system is the D using. I can't find anything specific on their website, but thought it may share something with the Jeep. So I looked at here http://www.jeep.com/en/4x4/ and I found for v6 model it may be using "QUADRA-TRAC I® 4WD" which is used on GC, since it's full time 4wd and doesn't need user input, i.e. no low gear selection. But don't know which one is for the hemi version, QUADRA-TRAC ll maybe?

Re: 4WD systems

all that tells us is the transfer case used? I think the op wanted some more specifics, which have been very sparse about the awd system in the dodge

Yes, and since Durango shares a lot of things with Grand Cherokee, I want to know if they also have the same 4wd systems.

Re: 4WD systems

You can read more about it here
Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Transfer cases

The V6 uses the MP3010 transfer case. It's a permanent 50/50 torque split front/rear. Closest match in this article is the Quadra-Trac I.

The Hemi uses the MP3022 which has variable torque split and 2 speeds, low (lock) and full-time active AWD. Closest match in this article is the Quadra-Trac II.

Re: 4WD systems

the 4wd systems for the WD Durango are the quadra trac1 and quadra trac 2. All WD's equipped with QT2 will have the 4lo button

very good to know!

I was starting to wonder, wow my durango is handling awesome on the snowy night we had.

guess dodge can't use jeep trademarked names in their ads.

My WD R/T was horrible in the snow :/ I couldn't really go over the small line of snow in the small street down the middle it wouldn't go over it to parallel park.... I think the tires are kind if worn out.... I couldn't even park in my garage cuz it would get stuck out side.

We had a few occasion for snow driving and the 2014 Durango R/T handled extremely well.

So I was happy with it until I drove our 2012 overland a few days ago.
I was shocked at how much better the overland handles on snow and Icey patches. Put it in snow mode and GO! Kind of makes me wish I could get the Durango with the quadra drive system overland has :-)

Me too. Would be a nice perk to have the same thing the Jeeps have as far as picking the condition of the roads and such. I do think the Jeeps are a little better, but that could also be because the Jeeps are smaller and lighter as well. In the end though, while the little dial is nice to pick the road condition, 90% of drivers just leave it on auto anyway. My inlaws have a grand cherokee and have never switched it off of auto.
