Drove a Durango for three days...

Drove a Durango for three days.....rental through Enterprise, they were out of Grand Cherokees. The two vehicles are very very similar that with a few tweaks they could make a 3 row sear GC instead of a Durango. I like my Summit GC much better though....granted mine is a Summit and the Durango was a basic cloth seat V6. The two vehicles are sooo similar that I'm not sure which affects which brand more...Jeeps are supposed to be different from other brands so Jeep & Dodge need to make sure they are "more different" from each other...

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

The 2013 Jeep Grand Wagoneer (confirmed) will look very similar to the Durango but have the Jeep lines, 4X4 system etc. The Jeep Overland is much NICER than the Durango Citadel...I've looked at both. You can expect the dimensions of the Grand Wagoneer to be probably just about identical to the current Durango (third row right up against the tailgate almost..very little cargo with the third row up-right).

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

although im sure you prefer your jeep, you would need to drive a pretty loaded durango to compare to your summit! They did a pretty good job with the durango i must say..Even though they have similar components, i still think the jeep has the edge in terms of interior and overall style.

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

I own both, a Citadel and a Overland. I won't bore you all with my thoughts, in short, I would agree and say the Overland's interior is nicer especially the leather dash, steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, lower center consol and real wood trim. But I do like the instrument cluster in the Citadel better. The Citadel has a smoother ride and though I like the overall looks of the Jeep better the Citadels looks better from the front. I sure wish both didn't have all the chrome...it drives me nuts when domestic car companies equate chrome to luxury.

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

When I was shopping, I considered the 2011 Durango for the two minutes it took me to try sitting in the second row. There's far less leg room than in the Grand Cherokee; it's not enough for an adult IMO.

Interesting cause the legroom dimension are identical 38.6” but more headroom in the Durango. I find there to be more than enough room in the back seat. I sat back there for a three hour trip last weekend. Although I'd much rather be driving.

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

Brother in law in detroit just bought a 2011 citadel blackberry pearl hemi. It handles great with a very smooth ride. He picked that over the overland because of the way it handles. the jeep may have better 4x4 system but the dodge rides better.

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

i have a durango heat and love it. its has the V6 but 5 more hp than the other v6's. the interior isnt bad at all. it drives pretty much like a car. the heat has a similar suspension to the one in the RT so 2" lower than the entry level durango. since i dont have the 3rd row seating there is sooo much room to haul stuff. i think the durango is also 10" longer than the jeep. my durango was cheaper than a comparable Cherokee model. from the back the durango and cherokee look the same. all and all i am glad with my purchase and would recommend the durango to anyone who asked. i do want to test drive one with a hemi though

Re: Drove a Durango for three days...

The durango is a nice car indeed. Thought about one before i went w an overland. Seems like from what I hear, the consensus is the durango has a more comfortable ride due to its size, wheelbase.
