It will be for 2017 and 2018 as a last hurrah for the durango on this platform.

I wander what the point is in introducing such a large new option on a vehicle that's about to be redesigned?

Its a large new option but not a huge change. most of the durango components are shared with the GC.

That would be a dream come true....maybe they are even making a Durango HC version....

That's what the government tells them to do but obviously the market has other plans.
with gas cheap the government and the market are on different tracks.
