the c pillars on the Durango look really weird to me. They dont flow with the design at all IMO.

Nice.. it's a good thing that they're nowhere near the same size! (for marketability reasons)

I Agree, the lines are interupted at the back window making it look awkward. It's like the rear most window is skewed slightly compared to the rest.

When I look at the GC there is no doubt its a good looking SUV. Although the Durango has improved a LOT over previous models it still looks like some sort of minivan/station wagon hybrid to me.

Re: Durango vs. Grand Cherokee

I dont hate the c pillars i think they look kind of cool actually. I think they make it look fast and distinguish it from the grand cherokee.

Re: Durango vs. Grand Cherokee

First time poster.

To be honest, I have always hated the fact that Durango exists. Firstly it takes sales away from Jeep, and all-SUV brand and The Original SUV brand. Secondly, its a re-badge. It's not a groundbreaking re-design, they copy-pasted, photoshopped and put it into production. In general I hate re-badging. Even though the Durango/JGC isn't as bad an offender as the Nitro/Patriot or GM trailblazer/9-7x/acadia/rendevous, I think that it is demeaning to the consumer that the automakers think they are pulling a fast one on us by changing the front and rear 'look' and logos.

Re: Durango vs. Grand Cherokee

I am curious about the driving difference between the Durango and Grand Cherokee. I recently rented a Durango Crew and drove it for a week. The steering seemed really sloppy and the car wanted to wander. Maybe that was unusual, but the GC is my first choice for my own car replacement (thinking of waiting for the 8 speed but otherwise almost ready to buy a limited or overland), and I know I am not likely to get that kind of extended test.

Do people find the GC seems "connected" to its steering, or is it a loose wandering car?

I was torn between the Durango, Explorer, and the GC and drove all of them and did some extensive research. I drove 2 of each model, and I noticed the GC and Durango steering felt pretty solid (I ended up with the GC). Granted these were new vehicles and not rentals that have been abused, but they were both much more connected feeling then the all electric Explorer steering. As far as driving, both of them felt pretty much the same, with the exception the Jeep seemed to be easier to merge into another lane due to its smaller size and larger windows. I would test drive new ones of each model and try not to compare them to the rentals (some rentals get beat up pretty hard).

One of the main reasons I like the Jeep is because of the connected, yet luxo feeling steering. Easy to navigate through parking lots, yet solid feeling on the interestate.

Some other things I noticed between the two:
1) no separate flipper glass in the tailgate on the Durango. Its all one piece. Big turnoff for me.
2) the auto dimming mirror feature on the GC includes both driver and passenger side, the Durango only dims the driver's side (the dealer didn't even know that)
3) despite what all the GC Overland Summit brochures and commercials depict, the GC's interior lights are green not blue. The Durango's are blue which IMO look much nicer.
4) AC vents go all the way back to 3rd row in the Durango (which is why there's no panoroof option).
