That's exactly what I'm doing. After downloading the Akami file. It does nothing else.

Re: Funny Noise in Radio

Well I had the update done on my 14 Durango Limited with Uconnect 8.4AN AM/FM/BT/NAV.
The update did not seem to fix the popping noise in the AM radio. Still happens now and then. If anyone has this problem and comes up with a fix let me know.

Everything else about my Durango has been great.

Re: Funny Noise in Radio

I understand this thread is getting old but, I have the same problem as the OP and he never got resolution. Everyone got on and assumed a computer update would solve the problem. I don't think so.

My 2014 JGC Limited was built in May 2014. On a long trip (about 3000 miles) I had the chance to find every problem the Jeep has. I could find only one. Same as the OP.

In review....

When using the AM radio band, an occasional noise, randomly timed, sounding like a loud handclap can be heard. It is very infrequent, has no repetitive tempo and is not associated with any other activity in the vehicle (flipping a switch, using the seat adjuster, etc.). It happens on any AM frequency, on and off stations. It also happens when listening from the midwest to the west coast in cities, in the middle of nowhere and at any elevation. It always sounds pretty much the same and is louder or quieter with the radio volume setting. The problem is obviously originating in the radio chipset or vehicle itself.

I am an electronic technician, so I tried as much as possible to diagnose what was causing the problem. Got me mystified! It doesn't occur on any media except AM.

Now figure that one out!

I have the same experience. (My '14 Durango was delivered in Oct '13). I have the latest uConnect software installed. What's interesting to me is that I don't recall this being an issue until some time several months after the vehicle was delivered. (Maybe after a certain uConnect update was installed?) I was going to wait until one more uconnect update to see if that fixes it. If it doesn't I might try and get it serviced.

For me, the "clapping / popping sound" occurs pretty consistently at specific physical locations. For example, on my street! I can pretty much rely on hearing 1 or 2 "claps" from any AM radio station on a 3-4 mile stretch of road that starts around my house. (Whether I am driving away from, or toward my house).

I don't usually hear any more claps during my normal course of driving on my commute to / from work. However, on other trips outside my commute area it will occur.
