Re: Glitches in Delivery - 2014 Durango Citadel

Yeah, 11 miles is about what I've seen on other cars I've bought new.

I followed the New Delivery Checklist that I found on this Forum and cannot spot anything amiss with this vehicle. But I have a rattle or rumble sound that I think is near the Second Row Passenger Side when driving that I cannot explain. It happens when I hit rough pavement.

I have not found anything loose or laying in a pocket anywhere. I'll keep looking. I might have to get someone to sit back there while I drive.

Congrats on the new D! As someone suggested maybe they were stalling you to show it off to some people. While 11 miles is nothing for buying a car off lot it seems a bit more then what people have had on it when they ordered one. Mine had 4 when I picked it up, and if I recall there is a topic on here about how many miles people had on delivery and I recall 5 miles seemed to be the norm. I would go back and ask the dealer just to be honest, that it will save you the time and trouble of digging into the matter.

Re: Glitches in Delivery - 2014 Durango Citadel

I think I figured this one out. They are in a temporary building while their new building is under construction -- which hasn't broken ground, yet. Their Service and Prep is done at their local Chevrolet location -- about 3 miles away. So the back-and-forth to that location, running to fill it with gas, etc. easily comes up to around 11 miles.

But I do have a rattling sound amid-ship on the passenger side when I hit corrugated pavement. It might be the seatbelt on that side flapping against the belt retraction cover. I haven't driven it enough to localize it, yet. But that seat was also just a little soiled (finger prints) when I examined the car at the dealer. They may have had some issue with that seat. The sound is not metallic -- more like a rubber mallet tapping on a plastic side wall kind of thing. As if something is bouncing around in the trunk (which it doesn't have).

Another slightly weird thing is the "Getting Started" manual was not in the glove compartment. I really like the pouch they give you to hold those miscellaneous papers because I always ran out and bought one with my other vehicles. The Dealer had to find it in the office. Maybe they removed it to keep it safe.

But then I found the Durango Tips Booklet and UConnect Tips Booklet in two different areas. One was in the glove box. The other was in the bottom of the Center Console. I found that odd. That leads me to think they were demonstrating it to other people -- if only letting them sit in it. There weren't enough miles on it for test drives.

The Dealer had never ordered this color in before for inventory. I had chastised them on only having dark colors with black interiors and the Sales Manager said "We got so many people looking this over that I think I better order two more. It's very sharp-looking! Appeals to a lot of older people than what the young buyers are after. They all want the R/T or SXT."

OK so mileage adds up then. Your probably right on them at least showing it or checking it out for themselves based on booklet in center console. Did you open up battery compartment under passenger seat to ensure battery is tight and not making the noise?

I didn't even know the battery was under the passenger seat. Is that true if the seat is ventilated? I'll go look. Thanks!

The battery is in fact under the passenger seat in all of them.

Or as we have to say in JNAP...

The right hand seat.

There's a vent tube that goes thru the floor board. Always good to double check the terminals have a tight connection though.

As for miles, the PDI docs from Chrysler say to drive it for 8 miles or so to check for varies things. If the prep guys follow the instructions to the letter then your miles are right on target.

As for the rattle, could be anything. I had 25 cents in change and a loose nut making a racket in mine I found in the door panel and the compartment under the driver seat.

Re: Glitches in Delivery - 2014 Durango Citadel

I've checked the battery. Doesn't seem to be loose. The sound really sounds like the metal insert for the seatbelt -- which hangs right next to the right side of the seat when not being used -- hitting the plastic guard that is right next to it. I've latched all the seatbelts and will test my theory on my next road trip to the store.

Question: Anybody know if Wheel Locks come standard? Mine do not have them. In the past, it's always been a Dealer "gift" -- but not this time, I guess.

This question came up because a friend thought maybe they were putting those on and messed something up or lost the key. But I don't see any wheel locks.

Mine did not come with wheel locks, I bought them afterwards. Does your seat belt latches have felt on the backside near console? Both mine do, I guess for noise or scratching of console.
