Need help from the Durango owners

Greetings to all from the Jeep side of the forum! Have a personal request for any WD owner that has the rear cpatians chairs: if you could and are willing I am in need of some measurements: the space between the rear seats that houses the console or the floor tray - need to know the distance inbetween both seats, and the height of the rear console at its highest point, and the length of the console as well. Also, when the rear seats are folded flat, do they lie flush with the rear console or is one of the two taller in actual height? I would visit a local dealership, but the only two dealers nearby do not have any in stock (nor are they real receptive to me crawling around the insides of a vehicle I have no interest in purchasing). In advance , thank you for the help.

It's not quite as straightforward as you'd hope, but here are some rough measurements.

Distance between the two seats is 10 1/8"
The overall console length is 23" - approximately. Both the front and rear are rounded with a rear overhang, so getting an accurate measurement is tough.

As you can see from this picture, the floor isn't flat below the center console so measuring the "height" isn't a perfect science. At the front (left in pic), the top of the cover is 17.5" from the carpet. At the rear, the top of the cover is 15" from the carpet.

The seats do not actually fold flat. The center console is a hair over 2" higher than the seat back at the largest difference.

Hope this is close to helpful.

Actually it helps loads! I can not begin to thank you enough - almost exactly what I needed. Could I persuade you to do me one more? The rear seat anchors - that "U" shaped piece of metal that the second row seats attach themselves to - could you take a peak underneath the carpeting(if its possible) to see if they are welded to/and part of the chassis? Or are they themselves bolted in? Lastly, the Durango you have pictured - which model is that with the red seat piping?

Re: Need help from the Durango owners

FYI the cover on that second row console opens towards the front of the vehicle (there's a release at the bottom of the console accessible from the third row) that is designed to be used when the second row captains are folded flat. It helps protect the top of the console and provides a slight flatter load surface.

I can try and snap a picture when my wife gets home tonight.

The red piping comes with black leather on the R/T models.

The brackets appear to be welded to the floor. I wasn't able to pull back the carpet very far (just around the cutouts themselves) so it's possible that there's actually a larger surface that the brackets are welded to , and that "plate" is bolted to the floor. I think that's unlikely.

True, folding it that way does protect the armrest but it also leaves the center console open. The console area is then below the seat height.

Sounds right. Mine is the Premium Nappa Leather so I can't say for sure whether it's the same for all of them or not.

Thank you. This is the info I was looking for, and about what I expected, but not what I wanted to hear.

The reason behind my questions are twofold: I wanted to see what the rear of the vehicle was like when the load flat floor was folded with the buckets, and because I want to replicate the Durango's 2nd row by putting a set of Captains chairs in my 2014 Grand Cherokee.
