True - single brand forums, or single model forums *tend* to do better due to focus as you say.
That said, I think a lot of it has to do with the owner pool. Overall, as a brand, I think Jeep has a larger core of those dedicated to the brand. That dedication leads to the feeling of "community" which the internet helps foster.
For Jeep this is particularly applicable because the brand is focused on a set of core values - off roading, history, singular focus, "trail rated", etc.
You'll see similar traffic at similar brands, or sub-brands (e.g. BMW M forums, MB AMG, VW, Audi) where there is a passionate, focused group of enthusiast owners.
It's possible that this was part of Chrysler's decision to split off Ram from Dodge. Separate the brand. It is another group of likely passionate, focused owners that feel a sense of community. Now you can have a site for "Ram" and everyone knows what its for.
The Durango, with its lower sales volume compared to Jeep, and, I would assume, with a greater percentage of owners who are "cars as appliance" just doesn't generate the the traffic (or need?) for a similarly focused internet community. Those of us here are the small minority of an already relatively small set of buyers.
It's the same reason sites like Acadiaforums.net also lack traffic.

Not sure how to combat that. Perhaps a mini sub site would work with different Headers.
I found this site in a similar fashion - a hard search of the internet until I found the WD forum, which was primarily because I was looking for 2014 information when we first started our search.
I don't know how to combat it either, at least not without rebranding the site which would undermine its current visibility on the internet as a Jeep-centric forum.
I for one am thankful for the WD forum here, and wish we had a site similar to wk2jeeps and all of the good information/detail there.
