Running Boards

We have two small children (<5) with a 3rd on the way--thus the Durango . Any thoughts on running boards? Can we live without them, or do they legitimately make it easier for the little ones (or elderly grandparents) to get in and out? Would they stick out far enough to help stop door dings?

If we get them, I am looking to stay away from the side step bars and would go with the full board. I've been looking at either the Mopar boards or the Ionic CXVs. I can't seem to find a decent picture of the Mopar ones installed. I also read somewhere that there are warranty concerns related to non-OEM boards (don't know how much truth there is to that).

These forums are great and are a big reason why we picked a Durango--only one week to go until we get it!

Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks!

Take a look at this thread from the Durango forum. I had the same question myself with young kids. And ended up buying these DeeZee running boards. It was $314 shipped for me.

My 4 and 6 yr old have no issues getting in and out the car now.

Re: Running Boards

I ended up buying Westin Tube Nerf Bars for my DD for the same reason. I prefer the look of a nerf bar over the running board though. The kids can get in and out a lot easier, same for my 5'2" fiance.

Re: Running Boards

I followed dixit's lead and went with the dee zees. Obviously no running boards will look better, but I think these are the best looking I have seen. I too have little kids and without them they could not get in by themselves.
