Ya, I edited my post later. At first I said oil as I was confounded the ATF wasn't red or smelled sweet so I didn't know what it was.

Re: Things to check on delivery

Vertrkr, Thats what I thought. I'm going to have to get use to not being able to check trans. fluid since it is a sealed system. This will be a first for me. I'm guessing you feel the same after your experience.

Ya, that really bugs me. I'm a bit of a wannabe gear head, educated as a mechanical engineer but never used my degree so I've forgotten most everything but the desire to know how things tick is still there. I spend hours looking under the hood figuring out what everything is and check fluid levels like I have OCD. I'm really temped to buy the shop tools to check the ATF myself soon as I figure out what they are. Kills me the factory service manual is not available yet, I check their site everyday.

Re: Things to check on delivery

Same here. While not a mechanical engineer I have always done my own repairs and maintenance because I suffer from OCD as well. My brother is a mechanical engineer so I know how you guys are. Having a sealed trans. that is good for 100,000 miles without a fluid change bugs me a little, but the ZF trans does seem to have a good track record. I plan on purchasing the lifetime warranty so I'm debating wether to get the service manual. Let us know if you get tools for trans I may be interested as well.

I did the Lifetime Maxcare Mopar warranty (took the $100 deductible). Cars today are so complicated, and we tend to keep them a long time. I don't want to have those worries down the road about what breaks. Just take it in and tell 'em to fix it.

Our Honda that we traded was 8.5 years old and was on the cusp of needing $ into it. My now 9 year old Yukon XL is all of a sudden costing me boatloads of cash.

I promised my wife I'd go another two years in it, but I'm starting to think through what I'd replace it with already....

Thanks. I just updated the JeepGarage PDI List with the correction above and improved the formatting slightly. This is a work-in-progress list but hopefully it does not grow much more. Impressions and suggestions are welcome.

Re: Things to check on delivery

Thanks again to everyone who has contributed to this checklist. It is reassuring that I will have the best information available when I inspect and take delivery of my Durango tonight.

I felt like a bit of a smart a$$ when I asked my salesman to ensure that the new software is loaded onto my Radio, especially when I referred to the actual RRT!

I will be sure to add anything that I find wrong on mine. (hopefully nothing!)

Parsec, thanks for posting your check sheet for the Durango. I had been working on one using input from the Diesel Production forum for the Grand Cherokee. I've combined both into a single document and attached a PDF version. The original is an Excel spreadsheet that will allow others to expand/condense/modify as desired. If anyone wants a copy of the spreadsheet, just send a PM containing your email address and I will send a copy of the file.

I hope to put mine to use in about 14 days.

Dan B, you did an amazing job compiling all this information! You put my efforts to shame. Everyone, I suggest you utilize Dan's pdf, since it will be extremely helpful when you do your joint PDI. Thank you Dan B.

Anyone know how to make this Thread a sticky? Given Dan B's excellent compilation, I believe this information should be quickly available to all forum members without having to search for it once the conversation on this thread ceases or at least tails off. Shall we PM Scottina or Milous to make it a sticky?

Re: Things to check on delivery

One more to add to the list.

Check for missing nuts securing the spoiler on the top of the tailgate.
