What is the black square thing in the underside of the lid, in the middle row center console?

Its the underside of the top compartment. It opens like that to help support larger flat loads when all the seats folded flat.

The console lip flops forward to prevent those loads from scuffing the leather on the lid top.

It is the bottom of the tray in the upper part. Just like the front console it has a tray and a bin. So when you flip it forward you get the open bin and the bottom of the tray.

Re: Thoughts on my Granite D Citadel with Blu-Ray

That was too funny...I see this ford pickup pull up in the parking lot a couple spaces next to me and didn't think much of it..and then this guy pops out and starts waving in at me. My very first thought was this guy just wanted to check out the Durango, but by the smile on his face I immediate thought: "that must be fk186!" And sure enough....

Was a real pleasure meeting you!

I still have yet to see any other '14 on the road, but I'll be looking for your D starting later this week!

Incidentally, I was in the parking lot of this strip mall because I had a UConnect issue I was trying to sort out. I got the infamous "Vehicle Phone...system requires service" message on my last start up. After that occurred, the Bluetooth phone pairing got all, well, "screwey."

Since then I've rebooted my phone, deleted the Bluetooth profiles from my Durango and the phone, renamed by phone's Bluetooth profile...and things seem to be back to normal. I'll be keeping my eye on that though.

fk186 can verify though, that my hood alignment issue is not as bad as it looks in the pics. Just needs a slight "rotation" and it should be perfect. I'm taking it back to the dealer tomorrow to have the body shop take a look.

That was to funny, just shows you what a small world it is and how we are all so tuned into noticing the Durango. I hope you have the U connect all straightened out. That is going to be my weakest spot when it comes to the Durango. Technology and me are always a little behind, just got rid of my flip phone less than a year ago.
The pictures of your hood certainly do look worse then in person. Yes a slight rotation is all that it looks to be to make it perfect. Let us know how it comes out.

That's funny you met fk186. It's a small world. Next time you meet it'll be a Double 2014 D ;-)

I am glad the pictures are deceiving and the hood looks better in person and can be fixed.

Tonight I just drove my new D back a 100 miles on the LIE, and literally I felt like I was tailgated the whole way. It was weird, as if other drivers wanted to get a close up look of the taillights. Has that happened to you? Never experienced something like that with non-traffic or maybe I was driving too break-in slow. Exhausted tonight but tomorrow night I'm camping out in the D with my manual. Oh yea, my 3 girls were mesmerized by the rear entertainment system; definitely worth it.

I think we're going to have to get together after he takes delivery and get some pics of the twins...

Not exactly, but the tailgate glass does not come down as far as on the minivan I have (not quite as much visibility when looking rearview), so that may contribute to the "feeling" that you're being tailgated...the lights from the car behind you will be lower down on your rearview mirror...if you know what I mean.

Make sure you go through all the Uconnect "settings" and also play with the EVIC. Took me a while for the "aha" moment to come on the EVIC that you set the speedometer type ("digital" or "analog" style), and then select additional information in the same space. (MPG, ACC, trip, etc.)

I like how when using ACC, it shows an indicator that symbolizes the "back of the car" in front of you. It turns on to let you know the car in front of you is close enough that the ACC system is tracking / reacting to it. For a while I was wondering "I wonder if the D has a fix on that car yet..." No longer have to wonder.

Good luck with that! (And by that I mean "raising three girls!". )

And a few more thoughts....

* The D could really use ParkSense for the front. I would not be surprised if that's added for next year given the Grand Cherokee already has it available (I believe).

* Taught my son well...first time picking up 3 kids for soccer practice and he stopped one kid from trying to climb over the center console to get to the back row. He had no problem operating the tilt forward seat...

* The integrated roof rack with the stowable cross-bars are another great touch on this vehicle. very easy to set up or store. Slick. Makes you wonder why all factory roof racks aren't made that way.

Joey, Yes that would be cool getting a picture of the Double D's. How did you make out yesterday at the dealer in regards to hood adjustment? You were right that this is the worst part waiting. Just saw that John's D left railyard in one day after getting off train in MD.
