TSB for Poor Sirius Satellite Radio Reception

A customer may experience, SXM (Sirius/XM) radio has intermittent muting. This occurs in areas where XM signal is degraded and cell signal is very weak. The problems are worse when the optional vehicle internet connection through the cell network is in use with the internal vehicle Wi-Fi.

Re: TSB for Poor Sirius Satellite Radio Reception

good to know. it looks like that antenna that's part of the fix may or may not make it under the top of the entry to my garage (once on top of the Durango). I think I have about 15-16 inches of clearance on top of the vehicle. hard to tell how long this antenna really is.

Has anyone actually noticed an issue? My sat doesn't mute except under very wide bridges and in tunnels. I'd prefer to keep the look of the shark fin but am practical if my radio does start to show signs if an issue.

We haven't, or at least I haven't.

My wife doesn't use the SXM that much, I think because she was so burned by how bad the reception was in her Honda (basically useless unless on the highway with no trees around).

I'll keep an ear on it...

I have to say my wife's and friends A4 and S4 both had pretty bad reception. Cut out a good amount even if for a second. The dodge is not as good as my Nissan was. The Nissan pretty much only went out in tunnels and even that took a little while into the tunnel and then came back before I was out. The dodge is better than the Audis but not as good as the Nissan. Love the dodge more though so I'll put up with her flaws.

This does happen to me in areas of weak reception. I usually only hear it driving through forests, but have noticed it cutting out a couple other times.

I get it in deep canyons, where it seems like it is also weather dependent as sometimes it doesn't cut out as much in the same canyon and place as other times when theres snow, etc.
