Ok so here's the deal. I have 22 x 9.5's on my non lifted GC. I also have spacers on the front and the rear. It came this way when I purchased the Jeep. Now, if it rains and I hit any small puddle or if i go over 60-65 or hit a small patch in the road it feels like I'm going to fly off the road. The steering is so sensitive that i like white knuckle the steering wheel for fear of flying off the road lol. So I put the factory set back on and it drives great. What's the deal? I like the looks of the 22's and the tires are brand new I just hate driving on them. Any thoughts anyone?
you didnt mention what year or how many miles, but if youre jeep is equipped with a steering stabilizer it might be worn out, or there may be front end wear that is amplified by the wider tire and spacer combo. certainly wider tires will make puddles in the road more interesting
Spacers besides not safe move the weight oh the wheel out. This put mucho stress on bearings and other stuff. Plus your jeep is 10 yo. IMO replace all front end parts.
a 22 should not make the car undriveable. uncomfortable maybe.
give some more specs? maybe pics. wheels tires, etc.
also, say a wheel bearing is wearing out. its 80% gone. you may not feel it that much with a stock tire but now add a heavy cast 22 and tire and spacer and it changes things....amplifies them.
also back to my original statement? have you had a PRO....not the stealer......but a pro look it over. lots of good places will give you a good once over for a hundo...better than throwing parts at it/
I don't like the way my jeep rides on 20s I could only image the 22s. I currently have my stock wheels on for the week and it rides sooooooo much nicer with 17s vs the 20s
Death wobble is not uncommon on the WJ ESPECIALLY with aftermarket wheels. Scrub radius is changed with larger wheels which can have a direct impact on steering. Verify your steering dampener is not leaking.
don't worry the 20s are going back on after I replace the hub tomorrow lol. I will take a uncomfortable ride to rock those wheels LOLOL to the op I would definitely get rid of the spacers
