5x5 to 5x5.5 wheel adapters

Ok so I was given a set of 15" 5x5.5 Mickey thompsons and want to put them on my 04 grand cherokee wj my bolt pattern is 5x5 but I've read a lot of people are saying about 15" wheels not fitting due to the calipers hitting the rim. The wheels I just got have 4" back spacing and if I order the adapters they are an additional 1.5" to add so I will have a total of 5.5" of total back space will this be enough or not? Too much of a hassle?

Re: 5x5 to 5x5.5 wheel adapters

It'll actually be 2.5" of backspacing, lower number pushes the wheel away from the vehicle. You should be able to clear the calipers, you'll be out pretty far. HTH

Re: 5x5 to 5x5.5 wheel adapters

As Sam mentioned the wheel adapters will lower the backspace to 2.5". You may be able to get them to bolt up and clear the brakes but you'd need to test fit. If it were up to me I'd recommend scratching the idea of running these wheels and adapters and take the money you would spend on a set of adapters and just buy a new set of aftermarket wheels to fit the tires you have now without a wheel adapter or spacer.
