Re: Changing Summit wheels with 18" Sahara wheels

I posted this in another thread.

Dealer swapped used (10k miles) 20" even for these new ORAII wheels, Bridgetsone Revo2's, and skid plates. It is a great dealer!

Truck looks and rides so much better with the 18". Only regret is not doing it sooner when I picked up the truck on day 1.

MPG is roughly same on highway and maybe 1-2mpg lower in city with the heavier tires. Noise is very negligible. Handling improved on all surfaces. Have not had these in the snow on this vehicle but have had these tires on three other trucks and they performed great in the snow. I stayed with the OEM size tire (265/60r18) and no issues.

My upside down pics are below.

Re: Changing Summit wheels with 18" Sahara wheels

I went out and took some pictures and dimensions from my wheels. The 20" are factory premium Summit wheels. The 18" wheels are off 2014 Limited Sahara premium wheels.

20" factory wheels
6 3/4" bolting face to inside wheel flange (where tire starts)
7 3/8" bolting face to inside tire face
3" bolting face to outside tire face
30 1/2" tire on ground diameter inflated (off vehicle)

18" Sahara wheels
6" bolting face to inside wheel flange (where tire starts)
7" bolting face to inside tire face
3 7/16" bolting face to outside tire face
32 1/8" tire on ground diameter inflated (off vehicle)

These pictures are in park mode (lowest to the ground and tightest in the wheel weld). As you can see in the pictures, the front area is the closest and only 1" plus clearance in park mode. Ride height and Off Road 1/2 would open up this area little more. If you are going to run chains, I would drop down to 31" tires and be safe from having an issue (but that is just my opinion)....
