Need advice on tires

Happy Holidays fellas. I need advice on tires and suspension. I've finally gotten up the nerve (and cleared it with the wife lol) to get some new wheels and suspension for the Jeep. I am planning on getting the 20x9 SRT wheels and the Eibach lowering springs.

First question is would you recommend also getting new shocks/struts? I have '12 Laredo X, 41,748 miles, no tow package so no load leveling; and to my knowledge never had any suspension components replaced (and don't appear to have any sagging issues etc.)

Second question is what other suspension components would you recommend getting? I have been looking at the rear control arms from Black Ops and the end links from BWoody but I'm not sure if they're absolutely needed and/or would work since I have a non-SRT.

Third question is what tires to do you guys recommend? And size? I have gathered that recommended size is 265/50/20 and the guy I've been dealing with through an online store recommends the Michelin Defender LTZ but they didn't look nice to me....I was looking at the Nitto NT421Q or Toyo Versado CUV. Both had good reviews from what I read. The Nitto's even had reviews from Jeep owners.

I appreciate the help guys.

Re: Need advice on tires

I like the SRT springs. Go shocks afterwards if you think they are needed. Check SRT tire size. I wouldn't worry about the control arms unless they are needed for alignment.

What do you mean by SRT springs? The factory springs?

Honestly I'm not sure...I've only seen the SRTs guys have and they lower them further.

Re: Need advice on tires

Do you want to lower the entire vehicle or just level it out? SRT springs are expensive if you buy them online so if you plan to only do the rear that's a great option. If you plan to lower the entire vehicle, the Eibach kit might be your best bet.

As mentioned, do the springs and judge for yourself if you feel you need new shocks/struts...even add a thicker rear sway bar to improve handling further.

Popular tire size for a 20" wheel on here seems to be 295/45/20...tire brand is up to you, depends on what you're using them for (all season or just summer?).

Re: Need advice on tires

I'm looking to lower the whole thing. I've heard mixed reviews on the eibach springs so I wasn't sure if that was good or if I should go towards the road magnets....

So the SRT springs are inexpensive?

Re: Need advice on tires

No, SRT springs are not inexpensive ($300-400 EACH) but are an option (seems to be the only one really) to lower just the rear. The cost of the rear springs alone will still be higher than buying an entire kit to lower the vehicle, but I haven't heard of anyone only installing "part" of a lowering kit.

I am in the same boat though...I'd like to drop the entire Jeep, but RM is out of business (although springs are still available) and Eibach seems to be the only other "kit" out there.

Re: Need advice on tires

When I said SRT springs I actually meant the OEM springs...that link is for a Mopar "lowering kit". Scares me a little that the link says it fits SRT4 models? lol.

I have yet to see accurate information on a Mopar lowering kit for the GC...maybe that's the right one?

Re: Need advice on tires

Scared me too....but when I spoke to tech people from BWoody (they sell the kit as well) they said it would fit no problem. I think the only real issue lies with Jeeps that have tow packages and different rear springs. I don't know much about it so I guess I gotta go with the guys who sell the stuff.
