New tires

Im looking to buy new tires for my 05 wk. the previous owner had 265s on it and the factory calls for 245s. Does anyone know if there is any special reason the previous owner had that width put on.

Possibly because it fit? And may be more widely available.

The 265 is only 1/3 of the necessary story. A 265/60 should be pretty close in diameter to a 245/70 if memory serves.. but a tad wider. Either may be within the recommended width for the wheel width. All three need consideration.

You can go with the narrower tire if you want, but before you do, look up the specs on the exact tire make and model in the 265 and whether you have stock or aftermarket rims.

Tire Rack or Discount Tire have reasonable fitment utilities.
