I probably saw some of the same videos about vinyl wrapping. Looked like a pita project. I know I would be doing the first wheel a few times over and over.

Re: Powder coating vs plasti dipped rims

I think you have to be an artist to wrap a compound curve object in vinyl. I've tried it before and it's simply beyond my capabilities.

i have taken mine into carwashes a few times, no problems at all with the PD

Wow, surprising turn out of PD supporters! I'll be picking up a couple of cans after work and giving it a go. As far as the grill is concerned, should I cover the back part of it as to not get it into the radiator?

Re: Powder coating vs plasti dipped rims

ive plasti dipped my rims, grille and my uca's and lca's struts, pretty much the whole
under side of my car. i also did my calipers and rotors. i've also done my wheels. i live on a dirt road and i vouch for it. it works really well and it pretty durable. the plasti dip on the calipers holds up well with the heat. i paid 40bucks to do my car.

i use 303 protectant to clean it and it restores the matte finish flawlessly. i've also heard of people line xing their wheels. im curious about that. at the sema show this year i saw a few jeeps and a camaro fully line x'd. looked awesome.

When the carpet starts falling apart in my jk I am going to line x the floor. Then I am going to work on line x ing the entire exterior. For now I am going to play around with the plasti dip and my wheels. I might eventually powder coat them but for now I am going to check out some different colors.

Lots of great posts and I am confident the process will be fun.

Re: Powder coating vs plasti dipped rims

Love to see is anyone has used the smoke plasti dip over alloy wheels. Might give a really nice effect.

I will try it. I was going to start with the spare. If I don't like it or it doesn't take to alloy well, I'll just peel it off or plasti dip over it.

Cool.
Worth a try and this stuff is great too as so easy to reverse what you do.
