Guys

I have stock alloys on my 2006 Wk GC in fact they are identical to the ones on the Black Wk on the site page header.

My alloys are corroded and have worm like light white wiggles all over.

I cant find a site I had bookmarked that went through how to refurb them so I cant remember if the stock rims are solid aluminium with a clear coat etc.

So can anyone tell me the correct way to refurb these stock alloys so they dont make my GC look like a dog as they are real bad looking at the moment!!

I didnt want to just go and attack them with wet n dry grit paper etc and totally kill em. But from what I can find it seems thats what I need to do and then polish them up with Aluminium polish before a clear coat seal.

Is that right?

Thanks

Okay

I have bought all my tools and paints i need now...I was thinking of doing a before and after.

Not sure where about to post it, maybe as an addition here.

The alloys now I have inspected a lot closer are absolutely awful ....ok crap lol.

So Im gonna have a go at a quick refurb DIY fix until I have pennies to buy some new rims.

I have a guy that comes by the dealer he does 85.00 per wheel and will repaint them for you.... most dealers will offer this service, its a pretty good deal and the wheels can be painted, silver, white black or pink if you really want...

The ones I did started out like that also, and I was surprised when I was done. It's metal you sand, grind, and, or polish it. I'm not gonna say it's a walk in the park. You will put some sweat into it, and you will get dirty. It will be way cheaper than buying rims, and they are made for your truck. I would get to work on those babies.

I have some from my old mj that i did a while back. started like that,i just used some polishing stuff i had from my big truck, and i ended up spending about 3 hrs buffing each wheel! (mine were not smooth when i got the clear off) I dont have any pics (its not here) but i've had people stop at the house and ask where i got them :D
A little time and it'll turn out great!
