tire time =(

hi all,

it's been a while. well, i have a nice leaky tire on my 09 jeep and mileage is 45k, so should i just invest in 4 new tires? i have the goodyear fortera HL? 245/60R18 105S

i was thinking of a deep wax job too, due to minor scratches.

thoughts?

Yes, I'd replace all 4. You're lucky to get that much out of Forteras.

A deep wax job isn't going to do anything about swirled paint. You'll want a machine polish. Finding a reputable detailer who won't do more damage, could be difficult. Don't look on CL. Ask around, or search/ask on detailing forums for someone in your area.

Check local places for the Michelin MS/2. Very nice all around tire, wears for years, good wet and dry traction, not too noisy, and can handle surprising snow levels.
Pricey, but your next set wouldn't be for at least 70K miles. And they feel like driving on railroad rails.

Re: tire time =(

thanks everyone! i just re aired that tire again. getting a set tomorrow. my tire size is actually the 18's. i will be honest that i don't know much about tires, ive browsed some and it seems when i enter my vehicle info, i get 8 choices!!! i do want a smoother ride without breaking the bank.

thanks for wax tips and yeah i'd only use a professional. my scratches are minor in clear coat near top door, probably from my dog...

don't let those tire rack surveys be your only decision point. I recently bought the highest rated tire for my size and I have issues and getting rid of them. if you are looking for a smooth ride spend a little more and get the Michelins. The Michelin MS/2 is a great all around tire in my opinion the best for an all season SUV. I wish I could get those in the stock 20 inch size there would be no decisions if I could. agree about those forteras that is one place they should have just spent a little more
