Re: To space or not to space?
So I've decided to purchase some 1/4" spacers just to clear the frame. I also beat on the plate shown there with a sledge hammer to bend the edge over. The edge was catching the tire tread and ripping it to pieces. When I have the 1.5" Spidertrax spacers on, the fronts are fine, but the rears could not fully compress without hitting the fender lip. I could roll the fenders but I'd rather not have to run the spacers anyway. Since the front track width is smaller than the rear anyway, I'm hoping the 1/4" spacers will not only help me clear the frame but also even out the track width front to rear.
So if you're wondering, yes, you can run 265/70/18's (or 265/75/17)with a 2" lift but you have to do the pinch weld mod, bend some other things out of the way, and space your wheels. Depending on your choice of tire, you might also have to trim the UCA ball joint bolt. In my case, I have Falken Wildpeak AT's and do not need to trim the bolt. My 18" Sahara's are the same fit as the stock 17's but just 1 inch larger in diameter.
