Re: 05 JGC Limited tranny

Tim2,
lf i where you i would change all fluids, oils and coolant in your Jeep, regardless of what the service history/stealership has told you. lt will cost you a few hundred bucks but its money well spent, especially given they've shown how they check units that leave there place!!

Re: 05 JGC Limited tranny

In northern Nevada at approximately 5500 ft. elevation, the Camara (don't know what was in it) passed me (I was going ~65 mph) like I was standing still and then slowed down behind a semi, just putting along. I kind of thought he might be waiting for me so I caught up and passed them both. That's when it started. The Camaro came around the truck and tried to get past me. No deal for him. He couldn't catch me and I couldn't pull him too much. I finally let off and the GPS showed 120.8 mph. (I've got the speed limiter set to 130 mph.) After slowing down a little I let him go by and never saw him again. I am sure he was surprised to see a 5000 lb. Jeep in front of him.

Dan, to answer your question, with the SRT lowering springs, sways, and bumpers, it handles just like it does at 60-70 mph....very firm, solid and smooth, but somewhat noisier at that speed. I think it would be just as solid at 150, but you won't see me trying to find out. The engine still has plenty of power at 120, and one more gear to go.

Re: 05 JGC Limited tranny

Sounds like good advice anyoldiron. I have never bought a used car and not soon after buying it , changed the fluids. It is good to know the exact mileage on the fluids. The coolant will be next. I know they did change the oil. I always like to stay on top of regular maintenence.

Re: 05 JGC Limited tranny

Tim, when you start doing your oil changes, I think you'll find a good synthetic works better than "dino." oil. Many of us have found that the MDS works much better with it. I am about 10K away from the 90K service and I'll be changing everything again. Last time it was over $300 just for fluids/filters, including the transmission, transfer case, both diffs., the engine and the coolant. All I remember is, "OUCH!".
