If you get a free battery test first, it will localize the problem. Terminal voltage may appear normal with a voltmeter, but the capacity may be deficient. Battery cells sulfate after time and may intermittently short. A Battery Capacity Test
will tell you that answer. Make sure that whoever does it for you knows what he/she is doing.
The starter is powered up through the PCM. If there is insufficient battery capacity, it may appear to be the starter.
You may find that, in fact, the starter motor is going bad, but I recommend you eliminate the other possibilities first with the no-cost tests. Also, check the solenoid connection for corrosion first (disconnect battery negative lead).
Finally, I was unaware that the starter solenoid is available separately. Thought the starter /starter solenoid are changed as a unit.
