Re: 05 transmission gremlins

ok, update time.
i took it to dealer to get abs lights and service 4wd lights checked...i figured if its gonna be down for awhile i might as well fix all the issues...and it needed a software upgrade..was checking service bulletins.
i have to say that FRANGO100 was dead on. dealership said replace soleniod pack...little did they know i have the part on the way already

i will update again when i have it all tied up....cant say thanks enough.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

well guess who went back into limp mode today.
new code though... p0700 and p0876 was p0700 and p0870 before solenoid swap.
i checked fluid and all looked fine and full.
ran for four days just fine......i have got to get a handle on this...dont want to be under this thing in the winter.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

I will have to dig a bit deeper into this to give you some ideas.
I would start checking the large connector and see if not one of the pins is pushed back. The code you have has to do with the UD clutch pressure switch circuit. This can be a wiring problem, but also a faulty TRS/solenoid block.
Measure the wiring from the PCM to the solenoid block connector and check for no shorts to ground and/or open wiring. I have no wiring schematics for the WK, so can't help you with finding the pins numbers.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

DTC P0876 will set if UD pressure switch is open or closed at the wrong time in a given gear. For example,
this DTC would set if UD pressure switch remained off while transmission was in second gear.
Transmission system will default to immediate shutdown routine (limp mode).
Do you see any change in shifting or delayed shifting after first startup?
Did you change both filters again, or did you use the same as where installed before?
Some googling showed me a TSB (TSB21-007-06) which is applicable on 05-06 WK with 5-45rfe, which shows that this fault code (P0876) can show up due to a failed oval inlet filter (seems that the filter housing can split at the metal to plastic seem, due to a faulty return filter). Also an inlet filter which is not well inserted into the pump inlet seal or a seal which is not properly installed, could lead to this fault code.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

i will be dropping the pan tomorrow...gasket has minor leak at pan...figures.
leak is just enough to shine on the gasket...almost didnt see it.

i did re-use filters....i will install new ones as well.
on a side note, the engine light cleared itself and has been fine since i posted that it went off again. this trans is so touchy. would abs issues have any relationship to this fault?
i have to change out one (waiting on part) i have the service abs / traction control lighting up as well.

thank you again for your help...have saved me tons.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

Not familiar with the WK, but would not expect the transmission issue have anything to do with the ABS, other then a problem with the same wire bundle for example. (shaved wires or wires resting against hot exhaust part for example)
So the check engine light went out and the transmission was working normal again?
Is some text missing, because i only see that you have to change out one, but i donīt see what?

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

yes, the engine light cleared itself and has been fine since. it feels like it is running and shifting smooth again. i disconnected the battery while i did the tranny work, to clear the system. i am wondering if it forced a relearn?

the one i have to change out is a rear abs, the dealer did full diagnose while i had it in for the recall service. so i left with a to do list basically.

they wanted to replace the solenoid pack, rear abs sensor all for a bargain of 1,400 dollars....what a deal.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

Disconnecting the battery will errase some part of the memory of the TCM (which is part of the PCM on your WK i believe), eventhough it is not the same as the quick learn, which can only be done using a DRBIII (or whichever scanner Chrysler uses on the WK) and brings the non volatile memory back to factory settings. But you will see some differences in the shift quality (sometimes better, sometimes worse) after a battery disconnect and this will change over time again when the TCM is relearning (finetuning) the shifts.

Re: 05 transmission gremlins

yeah, for the first couple of days idle was erratic at stops when in drive, today it was smooth as silk and idle is back to normal. i guess it was just a small hiccup in the system.
either way i am happy that everything seems to be back to normal again.
