05 WK wont start!

i have an 05 wk laredo with the 4.7L... it is an intermitent problem but i changed the alternator about a month ago cuz it wasnt keepin the battery charged and it went away and now its back everything works battery is good and when i turn the key it just clicks... sometimes if i try a few times it will eventually start but no such luck lately... it will start if i try and jump it and the other car is revved up but not at idle speed... could it be the starter? ive heard acouple different things but not sure. ive also checked the fuses and the relay and they are fine.

Re: 05 WK wont start!

sounds like a connection at the battery, that said weak batteries cause all sorts of issues on the WK... I would remove your battery cables and clean the posts. TYPICALLY when a car wont start on its own but a will with jumper cables it is an indication of high resistance at the battery post... the jumper cables have a good connection so it uses the other car to assist with the start.

That said, a *click* is also very indicative of a failing starter solenoid.

Well i removed the starter and had it checked and it was good, and the battery terminals were clean as well... before i put the starter back on i cleaned the terminals on the starter with a dremel and a wire brush attachment... then i cleaned the cables that connect to the starter and the ground on the engine block connected it all back up and it started like a champ! I guess it just wasnt getting a good connection. I do have 123,000 miles on it and live in nebraska so corrosion is a b***h... lol
