07 3.7 Auto-Shift

Hi guys I just picked up an 07 GC 3.7 and I cannot seem to get the manual shift to work. I believe I have the W5A580 trans and I read somewhere that I should be able to shift. Im not 100% sure on any of the above so can someone help out? Is there an override or a fuse that couldve been removed?

Re: 07 3.7 Auto-Shift

Nope sorry, you likely need the ESM (electronic shift module), call the dealer for pricing but be sure to properly lube up prior to the conversation otherwise you wont be walking right for a month!

This seems to be a common symptom of failure.

CONSIDER THIS: there is a link in this thread: LIMP Mode :( about disassembling the shifter and cleaning the contacts and circuit board. I havent spent much time looking through the how to but it has been said most people that responded having tried it said it worked for them.

Good luck

Re: 07 3.7 Auto-Shift

Seems silly, but do you know how to properly work it to begin with? (we had another member who had no idea how it even works....)

You must hold the stick left until the dash reads P R N [1]

Then begin driving and you can move it right to go up into higher gears. [2], [3], and finally [4]

-If you already know this, disregard

Re: 07 3.7 Auto-Shift

I only use manual shift to slow down in snow by downshifting. Other than that, I don't play around with it.....not trying to cause premature trans faliure.

Re: 07 3.7 Auto-Shift

After [4] it will go back into [D] or "Drive"
