07 WK Jeep GC Overland 4x4 Vibrations

New member and first post. Excited about my new jeep. Purchased last week with 70000 miles. One owner and he did all the maintenance to the owners manual specs. The only problem i am having is a vibration when braking. I balanced the tires, turned the brake rotors and check the pads. All done and still get the vibration. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 07 WK Jeep GC Overland 4x4 Vibrations

The previous owner may have replaced just the pads, and not the rotors, which I have seen several members on this forum do, and even post instructions and pictures of this in the how to section, which is senseless and no mechanic would ever do. I also never heard of just turning rotors when brakes are vibrating; the pads also have uneven wear and need to be replaced. The rotors can be resurfaced if they are within spec, (however I would get new high quality ones, as they are not very costly), and the pads need to be replaced. Make sure to bed the pads and rotors in properly, as this is critical.
Get new rotors and pads from Tirerack.com as they have a nice selection of high quality brake rotors and pads for the WK at great prices, and deliver to your door right away. If you can''t do the labor, they have a list of installers on their web page that will do it. That should solve your problem. Also, avoid any type of slotted rotors as they do nothing for stopping power, and only eat brake pads much quicker.
