My hemi engine has shut off on me a few times the past days. It will shut off while I am coasting to a stop or while the car is stopped. I don't think there are any codes because the check engine light does not come on. The jeep only has 29,000 miles on it and has been very well maintained (changed the plugs with the OEM plugs last year). I suspect that it may be the EGR valve.
Could the EGR give me these symptoms?
The egr valve is not supposed to flow any inert gas from the exhaust system into the intake at idle and if it is it will basically suffocate the engine most typically at idle or idling down when the throttle plate is not open.

My EGR is normally closed at idle or when accelerator is released. There are PID's (parameter ID's) for OBD-II that can show commanded EGR position, actual EGR position, and % error between the 2. Have to see if it is hanging up (ie, open) at idle or no throttle; that could cause stalling issue.
Mine was going out at 45K miles but it never stalled before or after changeout. Just lackluster performance, bad fuel mileage, and MDS failure.
