I'm thinking it goes to the side of the transmission pan right below where solenoid pack connect would be

Around same time my ac quit working as well motor runs barely blowing any air though

Re: 2000 grand cherokee limp mode?

On the side where the solenoid connector is, are also both speed sensors.
Regarding the check engine light, it should be on with ignition in run and engine not running.
The connector which is melted, can it have touched a hot exhaust part?
