2005 jeep Charokee laraedo sports edition 3.7 liter 2wd

I have a 2005 jeep charokee engine 3.7 and it started leaking oil massively a day ago and the coolant backed up into the reservoir the car temp gauge spiked from cold to hit in a matter of minutes and shut the car off. Is there anyone whi could shed some light in this for me.? I have never owned or worked on a jeep so I don't know much.

Re: 2005 jeep Charokee laraedo sports edition 3.7 liter 2wd

Its really hard to say for sure, but sounds like possibly a head gasket issue?

Are you sure its oil? Its really hard to say for sure without being able to look at the car, its really just a shot in the dark. The coolant overflowing could be from the overheating or it could be from combustion chamer pressure reacing the cooling system and pushing coolant out of the overflow. Still doesnt completely explain the oil though.
