mine had the clunk too, i replaced my sway links with bwoodys and it went away. you dont have to go that extreme, just get new bushings.

Re: 2005 suspension clunk

You cannot just look at them while on the car, they need to be removed to see how the metal mount on one side becomes worn out, and that is what clunks. Get either Bwoody or replacement stock ones and the clunk will go away. Do not get cheap aftermarket ones with plastic bearings either, as they will wear out in no time.

Re: 2005 suspension clunk

I took the jeep in for an oil change and told them to check out the clunk.

Well they said the lower control arm is loose (?) and they would tighten it up with an alignment. I told them to do it if it gets rid of the clunk. 80 bucks and this is the first alignment so not bad.

Re: 2005 suspension clunk

If that fixs it please let me know. I'd rather pay for an alignment than have to replace the endlinks or get the BWoodys.

Re: 2005 suspension clunk

Seems great so far like a new jeep! Used all weekend. Did not have the buy the endlinks. I looked under there and I can see where they tightened the arm but it seems kinda tricky to get to....

Re: 2005 suspension clunk

You check the rear sway links? Or trackbar bushings?

Re: 2005 suspension clunk

Touched the spare tire and it was loose. Cranked on the cable from the inside.

Worked and fixed the clunk.

What I didn't check was why the tire was loose, flat maybe? Will check that today.

When cranking I also noticed that it kept going round then a click, then round then click, etc. and it never got to a firm stop on the cable.

The tire is up there snug but the cable mechanism maybe got stripped?
