2006 grand cherokee 5.7 stalling

my 2006 grand cherokee is occasionally stalling when i come to a stop if it does not stall it drops the rpm's close to stalling. while driving after coming to a stop and it either stalling or almost stalling it does seem to shift very well, a lot of surging. i have replaced the throttle body and throttle body gasket, egr valve, and have checked for vacuum leaks. i have a superchips programmer one code i got was p0507 "engine idle performance higher than expected". on my live data on the superchips i get 12% throttle while in park. if i try bring up live data on the transmission like the current gear, current shift, and transmission temp it shows nothing everything comes up blank. im going to the dealer tomorrow to have them plug their computer into it. if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Re: 2006 grand cherokee 5.7 stalling

make sure you have your tuner unprogrammed from the vehicle... If they perform an update on the pcm it will wipe the tune then you get to try to explain to superchips why they need to give you another license.

Lets hear back from what they see and find as they will have their hands on it!

BTW where did you get the replacement throttle body?

Re: 2006 grand cherokee 5.7 stalling

i found the problem while servicing the transmission today, and found that the filter had started split apart. i have driven it for about 4 hours since changing it and have not had a problem.

Wow! Unusual find. What the heck does the trans filter have to do with engine idle? I would think you would experience a 'slipping' effect while driving or when putting trans into D or R, but not an effect on idle quality.
Is your idle steady now and no stalling?

I think the stalling is a result of the torque converter not functioning properly with the split filter.

Wow! That is some destruction now. Glad to hear you weren't seriously hurt. Hopefully the insurance comes through and you can get another Jeep.
