2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee po700 code

So i have an automation 2006 jeep grand cherokee with the 4.7L V8 and has been nothing but problems since purchased it used at about 75000 miles(82,000 miles now), my most recent issue seems to be the po700 error, i was driving through my neighborhood and it pop'd the code right after i knowticed how bad the car felt. when shifting between park driver and reverse it would make loud noises and i could really feel the shift and when driving it was like it would have a hard time shifting gears or wanted to stay in the low gears. The oddest part is that when i went to take it to the shop(day after incident…..Today) it felt fine but the check engine light was still on. At this point its at a local shop but what do you think is going on? im guessing maybe a bad tcm or something as all fluids are perfect and ive been in and out of 2 Dealerships since there so bad at diagnosing and fixing my other problems ive been having.
Let me know what you think!!
Thanks

Re: 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee po700 code

p0700 MEANS there is a DEEP code in the TCM. it will need a dealer to tell you what code is really on. why its on and what it is could be anything. pay the stealer the 99 or whatever they want to get you that code/

there are MANY trans TSB for 05/06 about filters coming apart and stuff like that. see wkjeeps.com

Frankie has an 06 got a new trans at like 40K miles so do not consider the light trivial and ignore it.

Re: 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee po700 code

yeah i read about needing to get the code from the tcm, i did not take the transmission code lightly…. my family just had to rebuild a truck tranny but luckily it was on warranty but weve been uneasy about that stuff lately. As of now the car is at are friends transmission shop so hopefully they can pull the code from that and i can avoid the stealership.

Re: 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee po700 code

unless they have a starscan they will NOT pull be able to pull the code fromthe TCM.

Ai also avoid the stealer but sometimes it makes sense to pay for the code........and then move it to a indy shop for repair.

Did you ever find out what's going on? Mine is having a weird shift problem when turning right and giving it gas around the corner

Re: 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee po700 code

My 2006 hemi 545rfe tranny had a p0700 and p0841 and p0944 error. All were detected by my OBDII scan tool from Sears. After searching this forum and other site forums, I suspected that since the problem was sudden (worked one night and wouldn't shift the next morning) that it probably was not a failure. But who can tell until a tech digs into the tranny.
Turns out the issue was due to the main transmission filter coming loose from the pump seal. seal was replaced, tranny flushed and my jeep is back and running for $281. It could have been much worse.

You issues could be related to the filter if it uses the same one mine does. One of the other symptoms of my model is the upper filter tube that fits into the pump seal will split and cause a fluid draw problem due to it sucking some air through the split in the plastic.

best of luck.

Marty

Re: 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee po700 code

The filter is known for coming loose and I would take care of it b4 you warranty runs up. My lights would go crazy on the dash and throw a code. My abs sensor and wheel bearings went out. If you notice slipping it's ur filter or bad orings inside the tranny
