2007 WK clunks during shifting
Hi everyone. I am the owner of a 2007 WK 90K miles with the Hemi engine. So far, I have really enjoyed the vehicle, but there are a few concerns that I hope you guys could help me with.
My vehicle has since I took delivery of it made a loud clunking noise that appears to be coming from below the center console, especially when I shift gears from Park to Drive. The sound can best be described as a loud thump and it can be felt in the shifter.
I have also experienced occasional clunks when abruptly having to reduce or increase speed in stop-and-go traffic. This type of clunks appear to come from teh fron end of the vehicle rather than below the center console. In addition, it is possible to provoke this particular rough shifting/clunking when using the manual shift option, but it is most common during downshifts.
I have searched this forum for similar problems and I understand that in some cases people have found faulty differential bushings, rubber bushings and transmission mounts to be the source of the problem. Others again have talked about the front axle mounts. I was hoping someone could tell me the approximate cost for parts and labor to replace these items and if these repairs successfully eliminated similar issues.
My vehicle has recently received the full 90K recommended service, including the transmission service and nothing has really changed in the behavior in terms of the clunking noise, whether it occurs during manual downshifting or when shifting from Park to Drive. The issue does not appear to get any worse either and I have owned this vehicle for nearly a year. Disconnecting the battery to reset the computer has not alleviated the problem. My trouble shooting skills are fairly limited as I am not a mechanic, so I sure do appreciate any advice and help on these issues.
Great forum by the way!
