I just bought a 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland 4x4 last Friday. While picking up some Chinese food, I pulled up to the curb, turned off the vehicle, put the hazards on, and got my food. When I started the vehicle back up, All of the warning lights on the dash were illuminated, the driver's memory did not put my seat back into place, the windows didn't work, and neither did the Nav/stereo, climate control, gauges, etc. Two warning lights cycled back and forth saying something about the suspension and check gauges. The transmission wouldn't shift on its own, but I could still shift it manually by toggling the shift lever side to side.

This was about 3 hours ago. I just went outside to recheck exactly what warnings it was displaying, and walaaa...everything is working like normal. What is going on??? It says that all systems are okay, but there is an illuminated orange engine light lit up still. Anybody have any ideas?

Fortunately the Jeep has a 3 month 3000 mile comprehensive warranty from the dealership, so they will be taking care of it. Their initial impression is that it is possibly the alternator, but we will see...the battery is fine. Thanks for the suggestion. I will post the results from the dealership's findings.

This is frustrating...the dealership says there are no codes, and they can't reproduce anything. The vehicle is working perfectly now. I guess I will take my Jeep back and keep a camera in the car to videotape it if it should ever happen again.

could it be the front control module? on my jeep there was a recall for the front control module

The vehicle has been running like a champ ever since. It is frustrating, and I am hoping this was a fluke. Since the Jeep came with a 3 month 3000 mile comprehensive warranty from the dealership I bought it from, I made them send it to a Jeep dealership for diagnostics...nothing was found.

So here it is 4.5 months later... I was driving the jeep all yesterday morning and everything was fine. I had to go out later for an appt and the radio/navigation wont turn on at all. Tried hours later and this morning and still no luck. Anyone just have the radio/nv go out? Im going to try disconnecting the battery a bit later when I have a chance to see if that helps...Any suggestions in the meantime would be great.

Fuse maybe?

I know on my 05 my radio (2 times now over the year I have had it) will power up right when I turn the car on then shut off and not turn on till I cycle the key. Both times I had a "radio high temp" code stored in the radio.

I would check the fuses for sure as suggested.

So I go out and try to just start the jeep and nothing.... decide to undo battery and put it back together again nothing.. I try to get to the fuses with needle nose pliers and I can't even get the #1 slot out... this sucks..
