Re: 2010 Grand Cherokee key problems

I would bet it is the soldering job on the battery holder that is the cause. If you split apart the key fob, you can take the battery out and re-solder the 3 prongs...

That is, of course, if you have tried putting in a new battery and that didn't solve your issues.

Re: 2010 Grand Cherokee key problems

I cannot believe Jeep made such a poor design for the key fob. I have had mine apart multiple times, have soldered it 2 or 3 times, even soldered on a new tab to make a better connection with the battery and it still shoots blanks intermittenly.

Pisses me off whenever I walk up to it and someone says, "hey, nice ride!" and I am standing there trying to get in the damn thing!!

Re: 2010 Grand Cherokee key problems

The 2010 fobik is a mercedes design.

I dont have a 2010 style key but this is like a 2006 style key to show the points to solder, the battery retainer there, there are 3 soldered points of contact, a pin on the left and right side and the flat portion against the chip... hit all those points with a solder gun, you may not even need to add solder, just a matter of reheating a solder joint that may be cracked to repair a poor connection.

That looks nothing like the 2010 remote.

No really??? Maybe that's why he said that picture was a 2006 FOB. Since you've had yours apart multiple times maybe you should take a picture of yours to show the OP where to solder.

On a side note that "thank you" wasn't intentional. I really wish someone would move that "thanks" button since it gets hit unintentionally sometimes when I'm on here with my iPad.

Maybe you should chill out - I was just making the comment that the 2010 is different.

That's fine, if I could I would send your "thank you" back to you and let you stick it someplace.

Sorry, I didn't read that from your "picture".

I just don't appreciate someone coming on here telling me what I "should" do. I was just letting the OP know that the insides of the 2010 are different than the one you posted. I will be more than happy to take pics of what I did to mine.
