Question 2014 Blackhawk GC Diesel Issues (whooshing sound)

Hi All,

This is my first post on the forum . I am a new Jeep owner. Got a brand new Grand Cherokee Blackhawk last month from Belcar in Adelaide, Australia.

Since I have purchased I have had one issue, which was a 'ticking' sound at low revs which the dealer claimed was a 'Fuel Cell' issue and was fixed by a re-calibration of the software....

This morning I have noticed that at High Revs I am getting Whooshing Sound which seems to come from the air conditioner... I am not sure if this is the Turbo kicking in, but I had not noticed it before? Maybe I am paranoid.

This seems like a really active community and i am planning on modding the car a fair bit so looking forward to getting involved!

Thanks

Sam

Hi Sam. I don't have an answer to your whooshing sound(turbo??) but welcome. I'm new here too and trying to learn a little about the ecodiesel.

I have the same car nothing like that, my be best to record it and post. They do have heaps of grunt so when turbo kicks they do get up and rock n roll.

Hrmmm. It seems odd. There is def some grunt when it kicks in but don't think it was accompanied by this sounds.. I might try and record it... Also call the dealer..

Could possibly be a boost leak, check your air hoses for signs of looseness may have just popped off , however if it's new get it done under jeep warranty. It's unlikely to be a turbo issue

It Deffo sounds like it could be a boost leak, your turbo is spooling as it should , so I would start looking around the connecting hoses, just check they are on and tightened properly. If not and it's still under warranty get some use of it let the stealership take a look. I'm leaning towards a loose connection or a split in your hoses.

Re: 2014 Blackhawk GC Diesel Issues (whooshing sound)

I have booked it in for next week...

Is it OK to drive in the meantime? It seems to be driving fine, not losing any power?

Where would these hoses be located?

Should be ok to drive, I would expect a turbo leak to be higher pitch, but maybe from insdie the cabin it sounds different. There is a black plastic pod above the radiator where the turbo hose runs into, sometimes the ring clamps on that can be loose, I'll see if I can find a pic of the bit I'm talking about.

Here's a pic:

That big black plastic thing on the front with the tubes and the silver ring clamps. check if the hoses are secure, but I'd expect power to be down if that was loose.

WOOOAH! Thanks so much, The right hand hose was slightly loose, the tightner had slid off somehow!.

Amazing, back to perfect now.

I hope that has not done any damage driving it like that for a few days?
