4wd issue - need help

What's up everyone. My brother and I are trying to figure out what is going on with his 2006 jeep grand. He has the 5.7 hemi with the quadra drive 2 . Anyway the problem is when turning the 4wd feels like it is engaged which I can feel in the pedals. Any ideas what can be wrong?

Re: 4wd issue - need help

When turning its difficult to turn because the wheels jump and feel like part time 4wd is engaged.

Re: 4wd issue - need help

When was the last time the diff fluid was changed? Was the LSD additive used (if applicable)?

If you don't know the answer to either of these, that's where I would start.

If it was an electronic issue, usually you would get a fault code.

How bad is the 'crow hop'? Since it is an AWD vehicle when in regular drive mode, it will not feel the same as a 2WD vehicle and depending on the severity, what you are experiencing could be completely normal.

When was the diff and transfer case serviced?
Is the fluid level correct?

X2 on all accounts. If someone changed the diff. fluid (or it's way overdue change) and they didn't add the friction modifier, it'll hop real bad. It is needed in WK's with the ELSD differentials, which his vehicle has.

As the Doc said, also check for DTC's.

Re: 4wd issue - need help

This thing hops bad. I took his truck for a test drive and it's definitely not right. I plugged in my obd but there are no codes, despite the fact it says 4wd service needed
