Re: A-Pillar Leak

I pulled down half my headliner (super easy)
Then I could reach my rear drain
Pulled the drain off
Ran a wire all the way down it ( I hear weed wacker line works good)
Pulled the wire out
Blew compressed air down it till I could hear it coming out of the bottom of the jeep
Put silicone around the tube
Reinstalled tube
Reinstalled headliner

Super easy to do
Takes less then an hour
I can have that potion of my headliner down in like 5-10min

I'd say atleast try it yourself first before paying someone

Re: A-Pillar Leak

Well I took it in a few weeks ago. It seems fixed. When I went to pick it up the tech had left already but the owner was still there. He said when he took the headliner down and did a water test, it was really obvious where it was coming from. He said comparing the drivers and passenger side it was obvious there was a trim piece or foam missing on the drivers side and it was just letting alot of water in. So he used some foam and sealed it up. It was $90. Been through 2 rains since and no problems yet. I am happy.

I am guessing. The installer had already left by the time I got there to pick it up. The owner didn't know exactly what he did but yea something was obviously missing he said. Just looking at the drivers side and comparing it to the passenger side, something was obviously different. And when he did the water test he said the installer just watched the water come right in right were the piece was missing. I wish I had gotten there 20 minutes earlier so I could have talked to the installer and really got the low down. Either way I am happy so far.

Re: A-Pillar Leak

Note just had a huge storm with hail yesterday... Sat in the storm, drove home, stopped raining. Drove it again at night with no rain and it started leaking again...

Anyways between my trans feeling like it slipping more, the abs/traction acting up, The ac/heater doors sound like they are dying when switching, the horrible axle whine again, replaced torque converter, rebuilt axles, replaced power steering pump twice, rain sense wipers not working, so much creaking/rattling, and many other things I am trading it in next week for a 2012 Fusion Sport. The dealer will give me 11k for a trade in so I am pretty happy with it since there are 3 accidents reports (all minor cosmetic/rear bumper). It just seems like I got a lemon or something.

Re: A-Pillar Leak

Looks like I'm having the same problem. Went into work this morning to grab a few things before Sandy hits and I noticed water leaking in from the top A-Pillar bolt area. I also noticed that the headliner was damp around the visor bolt right next to the pillar. I checked the front drain holes on the sunroof and they seem to be working. Maybe the sunroof wasn't closed completely cause on the way home there was no leaking. I guess after the storm I'm going to make an appointment with Jeep to have them take a look at it.

Re: A-Pillar Leak

So I had the same problem and I fixed it last year and no problems yet. Here is what I did:

I noticed it was leaking into the handle on the A pilar and then down into the electronics of the dash... one morning I came out and found a puddle of water at the drivers seat AND the Jeep wouldnt start (BTW 05' WK LTD). So I investigated all forums and thought it might be the sunroof seal and blockage. Not the case.

Then I pulled off the trim on the A Pilar and noticed a little mold starting down just past where the top of the windshield was located... further investigation revealed a little rust along the pinch seam behind the top of the windshield. SO...

I pulled off the windshield trim on the outside and found that the factory seal was well, ... applied very conservatively and sparingly. I went to the parts house, picked up some windshield sealant, applied a liberal amount between the glass and the frame (upper and sides), put the molding back on, wipped off the excess residue, and behold... no more leak. I have a few pictures of what I found and I will post later. I really hope this helps folks!
