Re: Alarm goes off after replacing battery and car won't turn on :(

you have a mechanical problem because the anti-theft would have killed the engine after 2 seconds of it running

agreed. Something is causing the vehicle not to start, i'd say either immobilizer system or ignition switch.

Ign switch is very common on the jeeps to go bad.

Re: Alarm goes off after replacing battery and car won't turn on :(

it is not the immobilizer, that would at least allow it to start for two seconds. i am thinking ignition switch or starter

Are either of those going to be super expensive? We got road side assistance to finally go get it and hopefully the dealership here in town will be a lot better than where we bought it from.

Re: Alarm goes off after replacing battery and car won't turn on :(

Okay, thanks! Its at the dealersihp now and we will know more when it opens tomorrow.

The tow guy said he thinks it might be an aftermarket alarm and we would need to disable that. I'm not sure what that means though LOL

Re: Alarm goes off after replacing battery and car won't turn on :(

If it's an aftermarket alarm there should- might be a button somewhere below the steering column. You can Look on the plastics down by your diagnostic port, anywhere down there and the area over by the hood release. If there is one you should be able to press this button with the key on, and the alarm should shut off. Some combination of the above could work depending on the manufacturer of the alarm.

Re: Alarm goes off after replacing battery and car won't turn on :(

It is an aftermarket alarm and Chrysler (who we took it to) is having a hissy fit saying its so difficult to turn it off.

Hopefully it won't cost an arm and a leg to fix.

Thank you all so much for your help! I appreciate you taking the time to work with me on this!

Re: Alarm goes off after replacing battery and car won't turn on :(

hey, my 2010 had alarm issues out of no where a few times!!!

mine are similar but i was able to start the car and drive it while the alarm and horns and such were going off...

one thing i had to do immediately was take out the fuse for the horn!!! at least that way you can trouble shoot or check around with out waking up the entire neighborhood while you check around.

my case- after i disabled the horn fuse... i just let it flash and blink until it stopped on its own. then it hasnr happened again.... KNOCK ON WOOD, though-

gl-

EDIT----- below is a link to my old ranting of the alarm in the past- maybe theres info in there that might help, who knows. gl-
