another airbag light

I picked up a 2006 grand cherokee recently and am working out the little bugs. the real annoying one is the airbag light in the center of the gauge cluster. I read the other threads and tried the fixes.

fuses under hood - blown - replaced ...... didn't do anything

don't think it's the clock spring because everything else in the steering wheel works fine.

playing around with the passenger seat (moving forward and backward and reconnecting the plugs under the seat) - worked .... for a day

light came back on

played with driver seat - raised as high as it would go, as low as it would go, as far forward and as far back - worked for a day

took driver seat control off and unplugged then plugged in - worked for a day

took airbag module out from under console - opened it up and used a heat gun to go over it to ensure all solder joints were "ok" - put it back in and it worked for a day.

while I was at the garage having a new TPMS put in spare, I had them check it and they didn't give me the exact code, they said the "passenger control module is bad".

anything else to check before taking it somewhere to get hosed from $$$$ ???

I don't have to be inspected until Feb. 2017, so I have time....but i don't want to start dumping money into things that aren't going to fix it.

I had a similar issue, found that the seatbelt tensioner (an explosive in the B pillar to jerk you into the seat before the dash airbag goes off) had a loose connector. Took me a half hour of fiddling to get the trim off and 10 seconds to plug it in. No more airbag light!

I found a plug on each side that's right above where the seat belt enters the pillar for fron seats. Pulled plugs and replugged.....still have airbag light. Assuming this ate the ones you are referring to?
Didn't have to remove trim, just the small access cover where seat belt enters.

Ok, I talked the dealer that I bought the jeep from into pulling the codes for free. This is what they gave me:
B1BA7 - ocm verification required
B223D - ocm dtc present
U0151 - lost communication w/ orc

I'm thinking the last code is from me pulling connections and putting them back together?

They seem to think it could be the passenger seat need recalibration. .... unfortunately they are a fiat / alfa romeo dealer and they cannot do the calibration.

Can someone confirmthat dealer can fix this fairly cheap ?

I guess I'll just find out. Called dealer and they said as long as it's jus recalibration , it should be no more than 75 bucks. Appointment Tuesday

Interesting post thank you. I just bought a 2005 GC 5.7 limited and it was doing the same thing. I brought it back to the used car dealer and he said he fixed it. He said he replaced the seatbelt latch but it looks the same as when I bought it. i think he just shut the airbag off because the light says pass airbag off. Seems shady to me but your post makes me wonder if i need recalibration. I don't even know how to turn it back on. I know thats sad but my ford trucks had a key slot for shutting it off. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks and take care.
