LOL right?! It was the coils, since a few others tried the foil to no avail.

Re: Another randomly stalling hemi

Have you had any more stalling issues since the foil was installed?? I've been having the same stalling issues as you and I'm wondering if this was the fix?

Re: Another randomly stalling hemi

I completely understand your frustration. Have been going through the exact same thing forever w/ mine. And have been replacing computer and sensor & throwing parts at it like I've got money to burn. I mean thousands. I have an 05 5.7L Hemi. My 3rd JGC and the biggest hassle & expense of a vehicle ever. Once I get it "fixed" I'm selling/trading it in for an 03 or 04. They are so much better in so many ways. Right down to the interior. The quality of leather in this one is crap. And the dash isn't even leather like in the others. My 1st had cloth seats and still had leather dash. I don't know where they put their focus into in this design, but it certainly wasn't in the quality.
It seems as though if a sensor misreads or sends false info and it likely isn't even that sensor that is having the issue. It could be something so far removed, but when something goes bad it creates a snowball effect.
I've had the main brain of it replaced and it still randomly decides to stall while driving.
I've also replaced the alt & starter and battery. And so many computers & sensors I'd swear it's been rebuilt by now.
For the 1st time since May I had to drive it. I drove 100+ mi and it was perfect. That night I went to move it and it wouldn't start. Day after it started...
I've lost all patience.
If you figure out what is wrong with yours please share.
Right now when it decides to just stop I'm told to just shut it off & turn it on. It should start again. Should key word.
Good luck.

Go ahead and wrap the main engine harness in Tin foil. What is causing the stalling is there is magnetic interference from the ignition system. There are threads on here that prove this.

Re: Another randomly stalling hemi

I really appreciate the reply and advice.
When I saw this thread I read all posts and intended on trying the tin foil trick. However, the next day it started right up twice. And my husband took it...
But I'm wondering if it will even work for this particular problem.
While it does have a habit of stalling and he turns it off, puts in N and turns on again, the thing it did the other night was just not start.
As mentioned I drove it more than 100 mi, turning it off & on with no problems. Then he went to move that night after it sat 10 min and it would not start. The lights were dim. He thought maybe it was completely out of gas. After putting gas in it said 64 mi to empty so it had plenty. Still no start until the next morning. Any ideas???

I know you said that the starter has been replaced. Is is possible there is a loose connection on it. I had that problem once where it wouldnt start on occasion. I ended up checking the connections and found that the signal wire (its the small connector on the solenoid). Make sure its tight.

Re: Another randomly stalling hemi

That would be so great if that's all it is. Thanks for the idea. We'll check that everything is tight.
I was concerned that it may be the fuel pump or something more complicated/expensive.
So just to be clear my next move on this thing is to wrap the engine harness in tin foil and check that starter connections are tight.

Thanks
