At war with myself and would love a second opinion

It's a very sad time for me now since my 02 WJ is obviously coming to the end of its life. On the upside I get to get something new to me which I am very excited about. The only problem I am having is making up my mind on which GC I want to pursue. I've found a 06 SRT and a 08 WK Limited with HEMI in the same price range which I am comfortable in (around 22k). After continuous haggling I've managed to get a 2011 Laredo in the same area. I just can't decide which one to choose. If anyone could give a second opinion and maybe give a little guidance on this matter you would really put my mind at ease!

Overall Build quality of the 2011 is far beyond the earlier models. I'd not recomeend a used WK after owning one since new. If you are buying a used WK, just make certain there is a full documented history of service and repairs, or else you could be opening a costly can of worms.

Would you say saving a little longer for a 2011 be more worth my while than a used WK? I really like the new Overlands but I'm not in the mood to pick up another house payment!

I've got an 06 Overland for sale for less than both of those

Where do you live (weather wise)?
Do you want to go fast or off-road?
What is the insurance difference?
How many miles on each?
Records on each?

I'd get the SRT @ 22K if all was equal on the above!

Re: At war with myself and would love a second opinion

The SRT has 59K miles and the limited has 63K. The insurance isn't much different on the WKs but for the 2011 GC it's a little higher being it's brand new. I live in RI and going off road isn't really an option here without getting arrested! I would have to travel longer than I am willing to find legal trails. The only factor that makes me want the limited would be the snow that we get. Granted we don't get 17 feet of snow but people around here get extra stupid and our state workers suck so the roads are always in terrible shape. In regards to records both dealers said the only paper work they had was the titles, both stating 1 owner, and a carfax report which were both clear. I have not seen them in person yet just internet ads and talking with the dealers over the phone.

Re: At war with myself and would love a second opinion

If going offroad is not the plan, then I would say get the SRT...ya know live a little. Take a peek at my sig to realize that this is a profound statement from the non-SRT crowd. I do not believe that there is a big difference in fuel mileage between The 5.7 and 6.1 powered WKs. However, if you would like decent fuel mileage, stick it out for one of the diesel powered WKs(2007-2009 model years). As for snow, invest in a good set of all season tires if ya are still leaning towards the SRT.

The WK2 has 893 miles on it. It was the dealer's wife who drove it around town. The way he puts it, "she don't go nowhere and needs the newest thing so she'll shut up!" Even at 893 miles I consider it new though technically it's used. Either way I am gonna go after work and test drive the SRT give it my inspection. Hopefully everything works out

Get the SRT and a set of 18" winter rims and Blizzak tires.

Re: At war with myself and would love a second opinion

So I got to test drive the SRT yesterday... I'm in love! Believe it or not the guy had a WK2 SRT8 and he wouldn't let me take it off the lot. Looked at me and straight up said, "I know you can't afford it and we don't allow joy rides." He was real rude about it too. So I looked at him in return and said, "well sir... you're a douche bag." I left his place and will take a look at my second option this weekend, 07 SRT8 with 61k. I was very disappointed with how I was treated so I refuse to give him my business. What a shame
