Auto headlamps always on

Within the last few weeks, my automatic headlamps have been acting up. Whenever the stalk is in "auto" mode, no matter what time of day, the headlights come on. A few days ago they were going on/off every minute or two while driving. I manually turn them on now but id like to fix them. I only have the "auto on" option on mine, no rainsense or Smartbeam.

Aren't they controlled by a small sun sensor in the middle front of your dashboard?
Anything such as a dash cover blocking it?
Or is it just flaking out?
Is cheap, not that hard to replace if the little button shaped thing on the dash.
If you shine a light on it thru the windshield that should turn the headlights off... but so should pretty much any ambient lighting.

Bummer, don't know how to test the sensor, but I'd suspect if you use a voltmeter across it you could see something---but the sensor is cheaper than a meter if you don't already own one.

There's nothing covering the sensor, I'll take it off tonight and check it out. I tried searching for a replacement but I'm only finding them for WJs. Know where I can find one?

It is called ambient light sensor in some catalogs, but your local dealer may have one for less than $10 and might be willing to test yours for a couple bucks.

See if this looks like yours.

56050241AB. Chrysler. SENSOR. Front. Headlamp. [LMG]. Sensors Body.
