Hi All, I have had four Jeeps over the years and unfortunately sold my 1990 Cherokee and picked up an '07, Grand Cherokee as a full time vehicle and dingy for my motor home.
Problem is the rear axle: Ignorant me, I thought they all had Dana 44s. Although I have the 4.7 litre and Quadratrac 2, I found that I had the CR2013r corporate. At this point in time it is needing its third rebuild. No I didn't do it myself. The firs time it was done by a Jeep dealer, next it was done by an extremely reliable off road company which I have used for years. The ring gear seems to last 6-8 thousand miles before it whines loudly. A lot of highway driving but I bought the unit to have some fun too. I am told it is the axle and am wondering whether it can be replaced with another type without breaking the bank. I am also told that there is a superseding part number for the gears which might mean an improvement? Any thoughts. HELP
