Bad drive shaft?

I've recently been hearing a lot of noises (clunks , rattling) from under my 2005 Grand Cherokee. I'm not mechanically inclined so someone who knows a lot more than me took a look. I was told it is a bad front drive shaft. I'm planning on replacing it as soon as I can. My question is, how unsafe is it to drive the car now, before I replace it? Thank you.
